We’re looking for support on outbound U.S. tax matters, including tax analysis and planning, treaty-based issues, estate planning, and tax controversy. Applicants must be admitted to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction and in good standing with the applicable state bar.
We prioritize overall fit over seniority. Our ideal candidate is smart, curious, and (importantly) willing to take a position. Junior candidates are welcome, but should have relevant coursework and prior experience. Above all, we value someone who can exercise independent judgment, take ownership of their work product, and work collaboratively rather than hierarchically.
Case Manager / Project Manager
Areia Global Legal Advisors is seeking a Lisbon-based Case Manager / Project Manager to support active client matters across the firm, including tax, estate planning, and advisory work. This is an operational role focused on coordination, timelines, and client communication. It does not involve legal or tax advice.
The role
You will track client matters from onboarding through completion, monitor timelines and outstanding items, coordinate document intake, and keep clients informed of status and next steps. You will act as the primary operational point of contact for clients and work closely with attorneys and external collaborators to keep matters moving.
This role does not involve interpreting U.S. or Portuguese law, providing tax or legal advice, or making substantive decisions. All advisory questions are escalated to attorneys.
Who we’re looking for
You are fluent in English and Portuguese, both spoken and written, highly organized, and comfortable managing multiple client matters at once. You communicate clearly and professionally with clients and are able to work independently. Project management skills are a plus. Prior experience in professional services environment is also a plus.
